OT: Motorcycle pictures

The last 'quick' bike I had was a CBR600 FL, stolen back in 92! Oh dear I'm getting old. Had an FK before that.

The last Vee I had was a XV750 Yam original with sigle shock rear, not the candy wrapped Virago version that appeared in the mid eighties.

I miss em all, but that's another story.
 
Here you go, B.J. Digi-pic of my 1976 R90/6. Did about 150 miles this afternoon. The cameras go in the tank bag with a bit of padding. I've got Krauser hard saddlebags when I need to carry more stuff. I like the way the black Joe Rocket tank bag has faded to brown to match the bike.

I love the way it was engineered to be repaired and last and last. Kind of like a Leica. (and vintage Contax, Nikon, Canon RFs) Most consumer goods today suffer from design obscelecence.

BMW's never impressed me. From the sewing machine R's to the "fairly reliable" K's. It's no "Leica"/"Bessa" comparison. All bikes in the price range are good. Just some good qualities mean more to me than other good qualities.

Here is my 1985 "non-sewing" machine, and I like her the same way as my old LTM leicas, because her maintenance is so simple that I could (more or less) do it all by myself!

Frank/bruenhilde: Those old BMWs are kinda funny to look at, but I'll bet they're great to ride. No doubt that they're solid machines, too.

CleverName: Scooters sure do count! Nice one, too. What make is it? I can't make out the label.

I'm sitting here looking at all of your bike pictures, and realised that I've never actually taken a proper picture of my bike... strange. I don't think I have one good picture of my two-wheeled friend.

I'll compensate for it next year: I'm hoping I'll have the time and money to do a full tear-down and rebuild, including re-wiring the bike by hand, and relocating a few things. That ought to keep me busy. If it happens, I'll document the project top to bottom, and be sure to share it.
 
Here's a couple of my Bimota SB6, kitted out for the road and the track.

A hand built bit of Italian exotica, she was like a thoroughbred horse; frustrating as hell most of the time but another world when she decided to play. I had a real love hate relationship with this bike.

I sold her about 6 months ago when I moved away for work. I've had and still got some real nice japanese bikes but nothing got me quite like this thing 🙂

A friend wanted to do a shoot last week; asked if I'd mind roaring around the neighborhood for him -- no problem, happy to oblige! Mine's a '97 R1100GS and the stock exhaust came off within the first week, replaced first by D&D and recently by Remus -- what was BMW thinking? It did sound like a Singer sewing machine; a twin ought to sound like a twin 🙂. Also added Works Shocks, WUDO fairing and their 12 gallon aluminum fuel tank, Corbin saddle, Jesse bags (stock BMW bags are incredibly small -- good for day trips at best), PIAA's, stainless braided lines, performance chip and the Techlusion FI mapping component. Needless to say, I can't leave anything alone... 🙂.

At last count the bike has been in 37 states -- I love to pile on the miles with it, usually 800+ per day and the max was a couple of 1500+ mile days (one ride was Paonia Colorado to New Mexico, across Arizona past the Grand Canyon and up to Death Valley, and then across Nevada to Jackpot; 1543 miles in 23 hours and 43 minutes). Also had a K75 for a couple years and while it was nice I never really put any miles on it so passed it on to a friend. Think about a Guzzi every now and then but fear it would sit unused just like the K75 -- I'm really comfortable on the GS.

Sorry, didn't realize there was a question in there 🙂

My scooter was manufactured by CF Moto, a chinese company that makes many scooters sold under different brand names. Mine is a Madame Style 150. It's also known as a TN'G Verona 150. I've had it for about a month now and haven't had any problems whatsoever. It gets about 75 mpg and has plently of power to keep up in traffic, even with my wife on back.
All the guys at work thought it was real "cute" until gasoline got over $3.00 a gallon and I started complaining about how I have to spend $5.00 a week for gas. 😀
Now everybody wants one. Of course, if I wanted to fit in better at work, I'd have to get a little sticker of Calvin urinating on a Vespa 😛
