Off With The Pixies
Forgive the OT thread, but I thought this report would interest many RFF members, especially those like myself, with Minolta SLRs -

It's actually something of a pity that it's an April Fool's Day article. That's a DSLR I'd actually be interested in buying...

I just bought a Chinese camera. New Fun 35. The instructions are:
Point the camera at the subject. Press the button. Wind the film.
Great. Why can't Leica write short instructions like that?
€2.50 disposable.

There would be a huge market for C-V to make a simple DSLR based on their VSL-43 in a bunch of traditional MF mounts - Minolta, P-K, M42, Canon FD, etc.

They got the picture for the camera from here. The camera is acturally ture in the form of a Film SLR. (But I never saw it in Hong Kong or South China, cause there no people selling brand new Seagull)
I wouldn't cost around 40,000 yen, that's about $3000 HKD. I think I would buy it if it is half the price, if I need a SLR.
Cheers

The original film camera sold, variously as a Seagull or Phoenix, was designed by Luigi
Colani who designed the Canon T90 as well as numerous concept cameras for Canon.
A very...organic design.
At least that much is for real--the film camera DOES exist. And I really wish Fuji would buy Leica.

Funny thing is a simple D camera like this is feasible, although it would need an APS-C size sensor at least to be usable with old manual lenses.
