OT: Oregon dealer "dumping" Nikon SLRs

you could resell one of those things and make a heft profit. I've seen that D2H go for more than that price, and the same for the F5. But, I honestly do not buy from sellers that are selling like that. Kind of sketchy - maybe that shipment was contaminated with radiation or something.

And a seller that does not accept credit cards is creepy. He offers refunds . . . yeah, right. Money orders and cashier's checks cannot be cancelled, last time I checked. I mean, money orders and cashier's checks are the currency of ripoff scams on that site, and when something is too good to be true (which the F5 would certainly be, were I an SLR guy), it always is. Every single time. Except this one time i saw a totally 100% MINT M3, recently CLA's, on sale at a pro shop here in Seattle for $800. Now that was too good and it was true. But that is another story.

I think this may be a store that is going out of business. One of the biggest photo stores in central oregon is closing down and this may be items from there.

Nikon SLRs of this type are full of really advanced features that we, as amateurs, would seldom use, like transferability of shooting data through the Nikon Photosecretary software via a special cord. That is to say, the camera itself is a small computer that stores not only that particular information, but also knows how to follow moving objects through the Dynamic AF system (which can be switched off or on).

But I agree with Bobofish here... a cursory check at the KEH website will show you bodies going for these prices already, so these offers are no particular bargain.

Man... would I swing that much for an F5... Probably, but then, I'd be underusing it.

The f5 price isn't that low....KEH has had bargain ones for $450, and ex for like $600

No, these prices aren't that great. I'd say it's legit...plus the 184 feedback @ 100%.

For the D2h, it's an outdated product, it's out of warranty, it's used by a pro (I don't care how many backups he has), it last sold for $1,999 at B&H, and it's only 4mp...that's about right for the price, and anyone who pays more for one didn't look too hard.

Now if these were NIB...🙂

Oh, you're talking about this auction: $1350 Buy it Now. I looked at a D2H at a camera store yesterday. It was EX+ with box, papers and software and they wanted $1700 for it. They also had a mint F5 for $750.
