OT: Paranormal Photos

Ok, this is way, way OT.

I took several digital photos inside a family-owned vacation home that everyone in the family acknowledges as being haunted. My armhairs stood on end when I looked at the uploaded files - several of which showed eery stuff, not seen by the naked eye. No editing, etc. Being a scientific person, I had always been skeptical of such tabloid "hoaxes," but these were my photos!

Do cameras see more than the naked eye?

Halloween is still a few months away, but anyone with any interesting stories to tell?

OK, this may be a wind up but assuming it's not - The camera can see more just think IR and UV. May not explain your photos though. How about posting some so our armhairs can stand on end!

This was from our recent trip to the Philippines. My wife absolutely refused to let me bring the photo CD back to the States for superstitious reasons. Can't say I blame her. I left it with my nephew there and I'll have him email me some of the photos for uploading.

In the meantime, let me tell you a bit more...

The house is an old Spanish house in Baguio City, which is now a vacation city in the mountains (about the same elevation as Colorado). Historically, this was also where General Yamashita (the Tiger of Malaya) retreated in the closing months of WWII. The house was used as residence for Japanese officers, many of whom were killed during a guerilla raid. Many locals were also executed (mostly by beheading) around the house. During a recent renovation in the backyard, the remains of at least 30 people were exhumed.

I have slept in that house maybe 4 or 5 times in my younger years, and there is definitely an eery feeling to that place.

The photos I mention, some show "orbs" in different places on exposures taken one after the other. One shows a distinct human form crawling on the ground.

The clincher is a photo which shows a translucent form in a white priest's frock, but with no head. When my sister in law (whose family owns the house) saw the photo, she said that she has seen that very same "apparition" with her own eyes, and that it was said that a priest was executed on the grounds by the Japanese, by beheading.

I'll upload the photos as soon as they are available. Probably by the weekend. In the meantime, any other stories?

My Pentax Z-20P has a Paranormal mode but it just makes the pictures skinnier. I didn't get a single ghost on film. Maybe because it's SLR (and they wouldn't show up in the mirror)

Im excited to see these photos!

Anyway this could be a clear argument why film is better than digital 😛!

But honestly, I am looking forward to these photos. Although Im more of an aliens person than a ghost person.

Okay, this is OT from your OT, ray, but just curious, are you Filipino? I'm located in the RP myself, and those Baguio houses are known to be supposedly haunted. Even the cottages assigned to the CA justices, hehe. Though I've never been to those haunted places, and never encountered anything which would make me believe in ghosts (I figure I'm not the sensitive sort).

My analog paranormal images normally are created during film manipulations in the darkroom or when I change films in broad daylight, very mysterious... 🙂
I wonder how this is possible with digital technology.

I'm not surprised, you are not alone in this one. We once visited a stately home in the UK. I-as usual was hanging back, taking photo's. My wife distinctly heard and feld sombody behind her, turned to say something to me, to find the lawn empty. I took a photo at exactly that moment. To my astonishment the photo showed a transparant lady holding an equally transparant child by the hand standing beside my wife......(and this was on film )

I don't have any photos, but I did have a definite poltergeist experience in an old restaurant once.. no question in my mind that some unseen force was moving things on me

Well, not photo related but anyway
My (former) girlfriend went once with some more girls to "evoke ghosts" or such. The, of course, succeeded. They spokle to two ghosts of which one was supposedly the ghost of Honore de Balzac.
He "told them" alot of things related to past and future, to politics and literature (she finished english+hungarian lit. at university level) by moving their hand over an alphabet.
All the things he "said" were okay, but they were related to wishes or things that happened to my girlfriend (or the other participants) - of course i could not convince them about this, but I convinced myself🙂

Except one thing. He also told her that she will be living here in the Netherlands within half a year, which will never become true.

EDIT: Although pretty vaguely, but what I wanted to say, is that people's mind influence these things heavily. But i;m also curious to see those photos🙂

Hello, Kat. Yes I am.

I just received the email, and so here goes -- judge for yourself.

First, some orbs...
Two successive shots, one with none, the second with.

Now it gets more interesting. Look at the haziness of the photo on the right side, and the shadow behind the girl on the very right. And look at the bottom right corner of the photo.

Looks like a reflection on the lens. Was it flash? It could have reflected off something that was in the air. I *do* believe in the supernatural, but let's at least discount all the possiblities.
