Wiped out on my skateboard today, with the Bessa R around my neck. First time skateboarding in 20 years, and of course it seemed like a good idea to take my camera with me. Some scratching and denting from the metal clasps of the neck strap, but no impact damage that I can see. Got a good bruise on my hand, though. I think I'll get wrist guards, and wear my helmet next time, just in case.

On the plus side, this morning I managed to drive my motorcycle home from the farm (where it was in winter storage) without incident!

BJ,

It could have been worse. When I read the title of your post, I immediately thought, "motorcycle down."

Keep your dipstick wet, and the rubber on the road, buddy!

Chug: I promise to take care of 'er... I need to take some test shots from the lens I just worked on, so I'll do my best to run through one, or even two, 36-shot rolls tomorrow.

Frank: If it had been "motorcycle down", I wouldn't have been putting the embarassed face as an icon on the post; I'd have been putting the sad face, or possibly the mad face!

In case anyone cares, I've attached a picture of the trucks from my board. They're not really exciting, but they are PINK and PURPLE. I couldn't resist the pink.

At least when I went down, I went down colorfully!

ouch!
how old are you? lol

if i had a fall like that i'd still be down.

when i used to ride i met an old geezer on the road once, after a chat we got on our bikes to head out in opposite directions. as i started my bike he was rolling away and he yelled, 'keep the shiny side up!'

Hell, I remember taking apart a real "skate" and nailing it to a piece of plywood in the early 1960's. Haven't been on skateboards since about 1968.
But tried inline skates a couple years ago, while single, at a girlfriends. Damn glad I had helmet, elbow, knee and wrist guards.
Still have the skates, anyone buying?

Have you seen ? "Dogtown and Z-boys" It's a documentary about the re-birth of skateboarding in the early 70s and its evolution into an extreme sport, as well as some history of skateboarding, surfing, and more. They even talk about how, back in the day, kids would take clay wheels from skates and carve their own boards from solid pieces of wood!

I very strongly recommend this movie. Not just for skate fans.

Very retro my friend, and way cool. I have never been a skater but I do like ato watch good skaters do their thang. I was a freestyle BMXer back in the day though. Never damaged a camera whale riding, but I did small my first cell phone when I went belly up one day.

Glad the camera (and you of course) are still kicking.
