Does anybody know if and more importantly HOW to retrofit a Rolleiflex 2.8F with the metering knob?

Do you just buy one of the meters, remove the plastic cover off the focussing knob, put the meter in there hoping it sticks and the meter is working?

The great google says you have to at least synch/adjust the meter before doing anything.

Anyone ever done this?

thx
Phil

I've done it several times but,...for the bad news...the last time was about 1969-70!

I think there is a section in the users 'handbook' about fitting the meter and also in the 'Rollie Guide' and 'Rollie Way' publications,..if I remember correctly.

The camera is already wired in the factory for the meter parts...the cell/nameplate and the meter movement. To fit the meter movement remove the film reminder dial and remove the two screws then feplace with meter and replace two screws. For cell/nameplate, find small pinholes in the two 'knobs' at either end of plate and unscrew using a needle/pin as a 'tommy bar'...replace with cell and replace 'knobs'.

if I get some time later today i will look it all up as my memory is a touch dim now about this!!

Thats good news actually, but considering someone else just won the auction I won't be able to do it.. :(

Who would have thought that in the last 3 seconds...oh well

Thanks for your help anyway, if I see a meterless one come along at least I know what to do now.. :D

cheers,
Phil

Was the 2.8F ever offered without a meter? Are you certain that you don't have a 2.8E for which the meter was an option?

Judging from the serial number it is/was a late 2.8F, and it definetly had the metering cells under the Rolleiflex nameplate.
It has an ISO/ASA knob too so it's safe to assume the wiring for the meter is already in place..
The only thing missing was the metering knob iteslf, there was a reg. plastic cover on the focussing knob where the meter goes instead.

It was a beater but working condition, went for 311 Euros, which makes me want to kill my computer for being too slow. There might be another one of these in the future but I doubt I'll be able to get one at that price. :(
