OT: The Little Digital That Could...

remove battery, wipe contacts with C2H5OH damp rag, fit new battery, might work

Maybe 60% isopropanol would do the trick... I must admit, haven't been to Tallinn recently. My ethanol supplies are a bit low. I have some Johnnie Walker, but that poison could ruin my camera... 🙂

Tuomo, does Olympus have a regional office in Finland?

If so, do call them regarding the recall for this camera, who knows you'd get a free sensor replacement. I'm planning to call them next week.

Dunno, have to find out. I am not the original owner of the camera, but asking never hurt anyone. What's this stuff about a recall? What issues does it cover?

Oly 5050 service advisory

I couldn't upload a pdf of the service advisory. So here's a link:

The recall is only for certain serial numbers. I didn't mention in my earlier post that I have a "spare" Oly 5050 that I tried to send in after the free repair I got on the first one. Olympus wouldn't authorize me to send that one in, saying that that particular copy of the Oly 5050 had no issues.

Could you tell us what the serial number range that has the problem? And first of all, where do I find this serial # ??? I am quite new to this camera 🙂
