Honu and brothers of the bike,
"She who must be obeyed" was out of town the last two weeks and I found a great deal on a used Honda Sabre 750 and will be back in the saddle this weekend for the first time in over 10 years.
I'm gonna take it real easy, finding those old skills come back slowly. But O' Boy am I excited about having a ride again 😀 I'll take some shots of the beauty with the Olympus SP (just to stay on topic - LOL).

Definitely take it easy at first, but ride as much as you can. The more time on the bike, the better you will ride. The 750 sabre was one of my all time favourites despite the excess size and weight. There's also a good forum for V45 riders. The first picture is from a Canon 35/1.8 on an M2, the second from a Yashica D.

Congratulations! Be careful. Ride as though car drivers are actually trying to kill you. I have to make a repair on my master brake cylinder (leaks big time) before I can ride this year. Hoping for warmer temps as freezing metal is not nice to work on.

I know the feeling, I just returned to a ... lets just say a more respectable size bike after a 14 year break. OK I stll have an old 250 one lunger in the garage but that has not been ridden for over seven years.

1st March this year I got myself a new SV650S Suzy V twin, I was very nervous about the initial ride away from the shop but I knew I had to run it in and behave. I gave the bike plenty of respect given the new tyres and brakes and took it easy.

Its done four hundred miles now and the engine is freeing up a treat, the old nerves have since been confined to the memory banks and I'm now riding the bike as if I'd not taken a break. Seriousely though, you really gotta be careful initially, untill you get to the point where everything is automatic as far as throttle up, down brakes and turns. Only then are you ready (I'm still not quite there) for the full hoot.

Have a huge amount of fun and be careful, sorry if I'm preaching to the converted 🙂

Congrats! That must be a great feeling on a weekend like this one in the northwest. But please be careful.

I know my father loved riding his BMW. But I bet not nearly as much as he loved his family. And if given the option, he would have chosen a different outcome than what fate chose for him.

Take "expert" riding classes, wear the best helmet that money can buy, ride on uncrowded areas, and have good insurance.

Thanks Joe, this is where I meant to start it.
I forgot how damn heavy a 750 was until I helped unload it. I was nervous taking it down the driveway and up the first street, then went straight to the school parking lot to practice for 30 minutes. It's amazing how quickly the old skills come back. In no time I was leaning, shifting, braking like my old self.
I'm still gonna take it easy, but now it's just pure FUN! HOO-RAH!!!

Took an hour ride, got to know this bike pretty well and had a BLAST !
The wife caught me as I pulled into the garage; can you say "Helmet Hair"? LOL. :bang:

Congrats! I miss my bike soooooo bad right now. The weather here turned very nice this weekend, and everyone was out on their bike, 'cept me. My bike is 6000km away. 🙄

BJ,
Bummer dude, how'd you get so far away from your 2-wheeled love?
Now that I'm back in the saddle, they'll have to pry me (and my Bessa R) off when I'm dead ~ ; - )

I'm so jealous I feel it in the pit of my gut. There is nothing like the feeling of riding a motorcycle and that looks like a great machine for sunny spring days.

I had an '87 VFR700 for a couple of years. It served me well until I had either a momentary lapse of attention or mechanical failure which ended with me cartwheeling through the air, and both me and the bike wedged under a guardrail. After I healed I was set to by a pristine Ducati 851 from a friend fo the family, but we learned that baby #1 was on the way and SWMBO said "no." I've been pining away for a bike ever since.

Be sure to post some more pics and be safe.
