Much recent discussion about Canon 135/3.5 lenses, but how about some lesser known lenses--Komura 135/3.5 or Vemar 135/3.5. Has anyone here used these lenses? Were you pleased?

Thanks in advance.

I own the Komura 135/3.5, and while I like it, I prefer the black Canon 135 f/3.5 LTM, because it (the Canon) is shorter, slightly lighter, can use filters, and focuses closer (by how much, I don't remember and I don't have the lens(es) in front of me).

The last version of the Canon 135/3.5, black, 48mm filters, is so good & so cheap why bother with anything else? I own one. I use it occasionally. I should use it more often. I keep it primarily because I can't sell it for enough to justify not having it. Another reason I keep it: If/when I get a NEX body I know I will use it more.

To all who replied, thanks for the information. Very interesting.

Nikon also made a 135/3.5 (available in S or screwmount) that has a good rep.

Half a stop down you have the Jupiter-11 135/4 which is surprisingly good and available for next to nothing. The downside is that apparently, it can't be made to focus accurately up close and wide open on a Leica-specced body. I have occasionally used my unmodified J-11 for distant landscapes and results are good. The M42 SLR version would make an interesting portrait lens, I think.

Basically, it's quite hard to make a really bad slow 135mm lens. Curiously, the Leica 135/4.5 Hektor seems to have a pretty bad reputation - I wonder what's up with that? They made them well into the 1950s, in both M and LTM.
