You sold your 40mm sonnar? I am still keeping the 35RF, and the Sonnar is just too sweet to let go. It works well with alpha 7R anyway, despite the age of the lens design......

Thank you Fuwen, they look they give is a lot like their Cine lenses. The low number of asph. glass is also typical Zeiss. Nice OOF rendering as well, but just like the newest Ultra and Master Primes they leave me a bit cold they are almost too perfect and a bit cold imo. For some Subjects superb for others not so much. For the last stated reason I wouldn't call it the lens of the Century but superb Zeiss lens.

I thought the APO-Summicron was silly… until I saw the Otus. Suddenly the APO-Summi' made sense. Not "I'm going to buy that" sense, but at least it's not so over-sized as to be overtly absurd.

Amazing special purpose lens which has a level of performance that is, IMHO, more than offset by the massive size/weight disadvantage for most applications. On the A7R I can only imagine it feels terribly imbalanced and awkward compared to, say, a 55 1.8 FE. That lens is so darned good and at 25% of the cost and weight. IMHO, handling has a far greater influence on good pictures than absolute resolution.

When there is a D900 with 50MP, I can imaging this lens being the best way of realising its potential, but how many people are getting the most out of 36MP?
