Oxford May 2009 - M2 + Summaron + Elmar-C

Nice collection, Erik. I recognize many of the places and I liked particularly your photos by the river, near Binsey. That fallen trunk was somewhat familiar too 😉

Some good shots there Erik. I'm off to Oxford in about three weeks time. Never been before but hoping to get some worthwhile shots. Taking the RD1, CV 15, CV 28.

Paul,

Unless you want to take photos of thousands of language students (This is not an exaggeration!), I'd suggest that you get into town very early in the morning. I'd suggest the evening for that lovely warm sunlight on the yellow suns, but I think the sun has gone on strike...

Erik, were you in town on a Saturday? I went in one Saturday in May and someone passed on the other side of Turl Street, 9am-ish, with what looked suspiciously like a Leica. I was carrying a 1980s Ricoh 500 and almost said something, but decided not to.

Nice. I was in Oxford during May too; it is my favourite place on earth by far now.... but lots of japanese tourists with DSLRs! 😛
Here's a pic I took with my M6 and 35mm Summicron IV before it got stolen in Spain.

Well, I doubt it was me. I was in Oxford from thursday April 30th til sunday May 2nd. So indeed I was there on Saturday May 1th, but not as early as 9am. We first visited Christ Church. That afternoon I went out alone with the M2 to take my city centre b/w photo's and certainly passed Turl street a few times.
Besides: I probably would have noticed a Ricoh 500!

Indeed the amount of other tourists was breathtaking - saturday AND May 1st - it was the day that all these weirdly dressed dancer groups crossed the city center.

Ha!

I now realize that it was left there - including the ducks - only to entertain passing photographers.

Your square crop is interesting: 120-size neg?

Looks like it wasn't you, then, as I didn't go in for May Morning this year...

Hmm, wonder who it was?

You are right about that tree, though - I've taken a few pics of it myself.
