I just finished my second purchase of vintage Contax lenses from Pacific Rim (via eBay) and I just thought I'd let you guys know that the product and service were great. I bought a 2.8cm F8 Tessar and a 135mm F4 Sonnar. They will even allow you to haggle over the price a bit! (This is an unsolicited plug - I have NO connection to Pacific Rim!)

I've found items at Pacific Rim that no one else seems to have. My favorite is a plastic storage bubble for a Zeiss 50mm Sonnar. It has a lens mount on the bottom piece and the clear bubble screws on top. Good place!

I have bought from there too. Nice people but I think sometimes their prices are a bit on the high side.

I've been looking forever for that Zeiss VF you used when you went to Spain. Pacific had or has one, but it was too expensive for my budget 🙁

I would agree with that comment. I have never dealt with them but I remember seeing a screwmount they had advertised on eBay a while ago that seemed way overpriced! 😱

I had a great experience with Pacific Rim, too. Regarding them being "over-priced" - I never noticed it. If the item I want costs too much and I can wait for another opportunity, I buy elsewhere at a leter date. If anyone is paying "over-priced prices" then you either really, really want the item (which is fine) or your a chump (which is fine, too). There's too much over-price stuff on eBay, etc. to make it worthwhile complaining about the situation! 🙂

Tom when I bought mine they had one that was somewhat rusted although the optics were perfect but they were charging ~$100 more for it than I eventually paid on eBay! 😱 I would agree with the comments above they they have a terrific inventory of many difficult to find items and I'm sure that they have a fair amount of capital tied into slow moving stock. Maybe we are paying for that.
