Packing Foam

Probably not a great idea for long term storage. The styrofoam type outgasses a variety of products including benzene and the starch ones are hygroscopic.

Why would you even need foam for storage, if the gear isn't going to be shipped (Unless you mean storage at a storage facility, or otherwise subjected to rough handling)? Foam is my least favorite packing material, even though it gives good protection, because it static-clings to my hands, even in the summer. It also breaks into messy little pieces. And you raise a good point about out-gassing.

Hi,

And mice love the biodegradable ones. Every mouse from miles around will descend on your cameras and eat their fill and leave a little evidence of the feast...

Regards, David

It is only the European vegetarian species of mouse that likes the biodegradable ones. The American variety likes a much fuller flavour in its packing chips and prefers shutter blinds or ribbons as a delicate side dish after licking the coatings off lenses.
