Pad Of Death - clunk or click?

I am confused after reading several post about the Electro's Pad Of Death. What should I listen for to indicate a good pad - a clunk or a click?

Reading The Yashica Guy's website, it reads you should hear a 'click' if the pad of death is ok. You will hear a 'clunk' when it is on it's way out.

You should hear a click indicating that the switch has reset..

Hard to describe, but it should have sme depth to it - think metal on rubber, not metal on metal. I would say more of a clunk if it's OK, a sharp click = no rubber. I can also feel the difference in my hand - even harder to describe, sorry!

i kept reading on here that the clunk was normal. I kept telling everyone that I cant here any clunk & my GSN is nice & smooth. Thanks for clearing this up.
