I bought on ebay a IIIg with elmar 2.8 and fell in lowe with it. added a cheap leicavit, now I consider to make a CLA, restore vulcanite and after paint it in black by CRR luton.
Any hints?

Not sure what you mean by "hints"-
it's certainly a good idea to get a CLA done & vulcanite replacement is straightforward using one of Akihiro Asahi's kits [http://aki-asahi.com/store/]

& Peter Grisaffi at CRR does a good job with black enamelling. I 've had a beaten up IIIf transformed, but of course you can't go back to chrome afterwards. Post a picture of your IIIg?

If it were me, I'd have the camera painted, then sent back to you. Then send it out to DAG or whoever else for the CLA.

BTW, those folks in London told me it was about an 8-12 week turnaround time for a repaint. Its also very expensive. I think theres enough resources on the net to do it yourself. If you have the right tools and take your time, it should be no problem disassembling the camera, take it to a local chrome plating shop and have the chrome stripped off, then spray it yourself. Afterwards, send the disassembled camera to your repairman of choice (taking care to make sure all parts and pieces are neatly organized, etc). Then all thats left is repair and reassembly!

I would not start learning to repaint on a IIIg.

Is the chrome in bad shape, or does it have a lot of ugly dents?

If in good condition, I would just get the CLA done.

I had Shintaro paint my SP, it had dents in the bezel and top plate. The dents came out, primer and paint cover the metal that has had the dents taken out.
