I am painting a IIIg black.

Should I go all black (a la Swedish 3 crowns version), or nickel knobs (a la black Model II)?

I think I prefer the all black version, but it is more work, and tricky to get the little parts black.

...because some other idiot desecrated it by engraving their name and SIN number on the top and bottom of the camera.

And, I've always wanted a Swedish triple crown camera but don't have $25000 to spare.

And, I like black cameras in general

Me too. It's yours and customlize/ decorate it the way you wish.

I think it makes sense to leave the knobs chrome. It is an equally good look, and would be the least intervention needed to correct the problem. The paint would probably wear right off the knobs anyhow.

Post a picture of it when it's done, OK?

....even post the procedures if you can, like a tutorial. I'm interested in painting a heavily scuffed M2 as my friend has an airbrush and I have the tools to take it apart and we're both ambitious (the perfect combo).

My vote is on the all black version personally, even though it's more work. If you paint it properly it shouldn't wear off the knobs too quickly and should last a few years at least before it will need repainting.
