Panasonic announced the organic sensor today

The joint venture between Panasonic and Fuji we heard about I think 2 years ago.. Panasonic made the announce today. An organic sensor capable of 123db of dynamic range.

I wonder when this will become a product...Last I remember hearing was they were having problems that were related to heat about a year ago.

Another interesting facet of the new sensor tech is a 60 degree max angle vs the 30-40 for a normal sensor. I would think this would help legacy wide angle glass.

Yep, that thought occurred to me immediately when I read about the 60 degree incident angle! I bet Leica will be first in line to order those! (Assuming that they will be available for other than Fuji or Panasonic cameras.)
 
Interesting that in essence Fuji is going back to the idea of their SuperCCD sensors. Each pixel actually has two different sensitivities to give that very wide dynamic range.
