Story Time: a number of years ago, I was on the annual ramble through the Ivanhoe Boulevard Christmas light show, and I came across a plastic tupperware container on a fence. Inside was an array of home cooked gingerbread, and a handwritten sign that said to take a piece. Not one to pass up free food, I took them up on the offer and went on my way, taking photos of the many wonderful Christmas displays. Later that night, around 2am, I awoke to an incredible pain in my stomach and a dreadful feeling of upset. I knew these feelings. In the bathroom, I made myself vomit, and lay on the cool tiles until the feeling subsided. Yes, I got food poisoning from public Christmas gingerbread. Never again.

With Olympus 25mm f1.2

This was taken through the window of Bluetrain in Southgate, one of the Southgate complex's original tenants. I even went to Bluetrain for my birthday with a bunch of friends in 2001, and have eaten there many times over the years.

I'm still enjoying this wonderfully powerful and versatile camera. I'm seriously considering buying a spare as Panasonic doesn't look like it will make another with this body/grip style.

One from the weekend. G9 with Panasonic G X Vario 35-100mm f2.8 version 1.

Story behind it: I was at a sports event that happened to be on a flight path, and planes regularly passed overhead.

The Pana 35-100 has been a stellar lens for the 11 years I've had it. It can be intermittently hazy at 100mm, but I'm not able to reproduce the issue at will.

A few G9 images from the AFL Grand Final Day of 2024. Perhaps my favourite day of photography in the year, where I do everything that isn't football related. Okay, maybe I take some images of football fans in the street. But not in these images.

The Olympus 17mm f1.2 Pro is a superb lens on the G9, creating a 35mm f2.4 equivalent field of view and depth of field. It balances well with the G9's grip.

During the walk, we passed by the house where I encountered the infamous gingerbread that gave me food poisoning some years ago. My partner said, 'want some gingerbread?'

I replied, 'not this year, Satan!'

A few more with the Olympus 17mm f1.2 Pro. The G9 is an excellent body for larger lenses like the Olympus f1.2 primes, due to the wonderful grip.

This is the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, a vast venue that is used for a multitude of things, including the now-gone Photo Marketing Association Expo. At other times, it has hosted the Arnold Classic fitness expo, the Mind Body Spirit expo, and more. This reminds me, I should find and post some images of PMA expos past, as they were great fun.
