Does anyone have direct comparison of high iso between the OMD and the GH3? Against popular advice, I'd be getting the GH# for stills only. I agree that the OMD is too tight a fit for my hands, louse a fully articulated screen is better, IMO.

A better fit in my hands and the fully articulated LCD are just two of the reasons I purchased the GH3 instead of the OM-D EM-5. I have found that the GH3 is very usable at ISO 1600. I feel that the high ISO performance will be very close. Both of these cameras look to be very good!

There is still noticeable refresh lag. EVFs are not anywhere close to what you would see with a SLR VF.

Thanks Mike. My experience is with a Fuji XPro1 and a Sony NEX5N. The NEX viewfinder is in the ballpark of an SLR viewfinder, but seems to be unusually good. The XPro1 not so much. Still tempted by the GH3 but the GAS is gradually abating.

anybody bought one of those? it has been quiet around here. still a very temting camera my GH-1 starting to show it's age,.

how's the sensor setup, AA filter, is the output sharp? I'm mainly interested in adapting legacy glass and for Video.

Check out the videos using the GH3 and legacy/MF glass on Vimeo.com. The video output looks very sharp, and lots of people even use anamorphic adapters to create that cinematic look. A hacked GH2 does a super job, but the native files from the GH3 look excellent, too. A bit more DR, but a touch more moire, interestingly.

I'm still tempted to get a GH3 for dedicated video shooting when I'm using a rigging like tripod, monopod or slider. As it lacks IS, I can't see it being a general run-around camera, though. The OM-D has spoiled me in that regard!

the limited availability of GH-3 (body only) and a GH-2 at less than half price of a GH-3 had me falling for a brandnew newoldstock GH-2,excited. at the price it s so much camera it was hard to ignore. I also couldn't really get into the bigger size/weight of the 3.
also the lack of multiaspect sensor in GH-3 (I'm a 3:2 shooter) had me thinking, any love for the 'old' GH-2 around here?

I've enjoyed mine- it's light, very capable. I do like the multi-aspect sensor too, as I prefer 1:1 and 16:9. Don't see any need to upgrade. Or, wait for the sales when GH4 is about to come out 🙂 That's what's nice about digital- a little patience gets quickly rewarded.

I am about to take the plunge - I have a GX-1, but the increased functionality of the GH-3 suggests a change. Travelling a lot, my insurance is limited to to $SIN 2,000 which means the Leica kit stays at home a lot of the time. I will be interested to see how it performs. I pick it up tomorrow!

A thick haze and a busy work programme have precluded doing much of anything here for the moment, but we will travel to Kuala Lumpur this weekend, so I am looking forward to trying it out. Biomed, I am sure that it is going to be fun, and hopefully it will stop my wife whingeing about the amount of time which I usually take to focus etc! A technophobe, she remains unconvinced about the benefits of current technology.

I finally caved in and got a GH3. It's definitely larger than the OM-D, but I like the button placement and overall 'roundedness' of the body design. It just feels better when cradled in two hands, and the flat top surface slides in and out of the bag easily, unlike the OM-D which catches occasionally.

The swivel-screen bugged me at first, but I now find it quite useful.

The control of video quality is the most important thing for me regarding the GH3. While the OM-D video looks very nice out of the camera, it is impossible to adjust image style, codec, framerate, or even shutter and aperture manually. The GH3 is like a mini-5DII for video, and better in some ways. While I have the 12-35 and a few other good lenses, I'm looking forward to getting a couple of Voigtlander or SLR Magic for video shooting. Fun times!

I had a GH3 the other month or so, finally getting connected with it just recently, it took a while I guess. I use mine solely for photography, I hope it's alright? 😀

The controls and ergonomics won me over the OMD EM5. Though my pinky finger hurts a bit from shooting all day, maybe a vertical grip is in order...

All taken with 35-100 under less-than-ideal stormy weather, the weather-sealing of both lens and the body proved to be useful. (I hope it's okay to post some pics here... Mods: please feel free to remove if inappropriate.)

Just got my Pana 35-100! At first I thought it was disappointingly soft, until I realized that a. I was shooting it in fairly low light and slow shutter speeds and b. shooting through flyscreen!

Later efforts showed me that this is a very sharp lens, definitely on a par with its excellent 12-35mm brother, and with the 7-14mm, gives me complete set of focal lengths to use on the GH3, EM-5 and the upcoming Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.
