Name change jump from Gx1 to Gx7

Looking at the GX7.... some major changes from the 1 to the 7. Noteworthy is the addition of IBIS... unique for Panasonic to move stabilization to the body. Somebody has a thread on the GX7 on RFF, and the images really grabbed me, and turned me toward the GX7. I read good reviews on the GX1 in researching.

Probably a great camera at the price it's knocked down to by the intro of the 7.
 
It is, I was a bit concerned with softness of the image when looking at and
maging the screen, but when I put them thru Silkypix and check the images
I was surprised of the sharpness. In Photofun all the photos look soft but
still look good, and I think it's great that I could download straight into
the software not like Olympus Viewer 3 I have to download thru my computer
then put them in a file from there. It's a pain but it works.

Just picked up a new lens for my Pana GX-1 and OLY EP-3 a 14 to 45mm zoom.
Whats great about it is it has OIS in the lens and uses a standard size (52mm)
filter size, so far it's sharper that the smaller Olympus version plus it's a bit
bigger for better balance on both cameras.

Hey how many of you shoot jpeg-only with this thing? And if you do, do you occasionally get a magenta cast under mixed light?
 
I have heard about that but I don't recall experiencing it. Although I have tended to shoot my GX1 in mono mode.

I've been trying the GX1 out recently with the Olympus M. Zuiko 17/2.8 lens. Liking the results and it makes a very compact package.
 
Hey thanks for getting back. I have a 14/2.5 on it and I dig it. Just struggling with the colour.

thing is, I've tried tweaking everything in the menus. No luck. I'm thinking that some easy raw solution might be the way.
Does anyone here have experience with Silkypix? On a Mac?

What about using something similar to the Xrite Colorchecker Passport (or whatever is named)?

In camera, have you tried a custom white balance, point the camera at a white piece of paper, or gray card, and set white balance off of it?

In the computer, changing the file mode from RGB to grayscale, and back to RGB would do it quickly.

Yes I have. Works okay - most of the time. But in mixed light it seems to go off the rails if I try auto wb. But only sometimes. So I guess custom wb is getting me partly there.
 
The crazy thing is, while the big Nikons do "okay" with wb in mixed light, the Fuji, despite sacrificing everything else's colour accuracy, always gets the skin tones perfect or "extremely close" even under the most atrocious mix of light (both lines on auto wb), the camera that does the most consistent job, as far as colour rendition goes, is my iCantPhone. Crazy. But I like 4:3 as an aspect ratio, and I like the responsiveness of the little camera. And, every once In a while, it nails the wb.
I'm trying to figure out what the common denominator is between all the selects from that camera.
