what are users findings on low light/high iso rendering compared to other m4/3 and fuji x line? most cameras i use (x100, epl5 and certainly gxr m) are ok at 1600 but imo break down at 3200.

Excellent! Good to hear the camera is doing you well. I chose the E-M1 for various reasons, but I'm still enamored of the GX7 design.

Prior to seeing the GX7 and the E-M1, I would have sworn I was a GX7 guy... but after seeing and holding both, I'm a E-M1 fan instead. Weird.

The E-M1 is a great camera, but there are two things that kept me from buying the E-M1 -
I cannot see the entire image in the EVF with my glasses on. The GX7 EVF allows me to see the entire image. My GH3 has slightly darkened corners. The E-M5 is about the same. The E-M1 EVF has an outstanding images, but the entire image is not visible. I have to move my eye around a bit to see everything. I have adjusted the EVF on my GX7 match the LCD and am very happy with it.
The E-M1 is not a good fit for my hands. It feels a bit angular and cramped to me. I was at Glazers in Seattle for a workshop today and took another look at the E-M1 so I could do a side by side comparison with my GX7. It was just like the first time I held the E-M1. The most comfortable to hold camera I have ever used is the GH3 with the GX7 being very close.
IMHO there is very little difference in IQ of the latest generation of u4/3 cameras. So the choice comes down to the feel of the camera and ease of handling. I really enjoy the RF like feel when shooting with the GX7 especially when using my RF lenses.
I hope you get lots of enjoyment with your E-M1.
One more thing. I did not leave Glazers without parting with some of my money. I have been looking for a long lens for use with my F to u4/3 adapter. I looked at two today, a Nikkor 300/2.8 and a 300/4.5. The 300/2.8 is a fantastic lens but at almost $1K it was out of the question for my budget. I did buy a very nice AI 300/4.5 that was within my means.

It seems I'm alone, but I think Panasonic made a big design mistake with the GX7. I recently put my hands on it in a shop (I'm waiting for a Leica-type silent M43 since years!) and was really disapointed where they put the release button - not a classic slightly cambered one in the corner, but a flat profile AFTER the speed dial !!!!
Result : impossible to shoot precisely, and, most of all, impossible to shoot with the second phalanx of the finger which is - all leicaists will confirm that - the best "oneself image stabilization" invented in the history of photography.
Japanese ingineers aren't human or what?!?! What's sure, that they aren't photographers… Too bad! IMHO without this default - unacceptable for my use - the GX7 should be the best camera of the year.

As I own the GH3 and EM-5, I would choose the GX7 over the EM-1 as a third m43 camera for a few reasons.
The first is the video. The GX7's video is directly comparable with the GH3 and could serve as a backup/b-cam on jobs. The EM-1's video quality is okay, but not in the same league, and it only runs at 30p. This is terrible for shooting under fluorescent tubes, which produce a disturbing flickering at 30p.
The second factor is the size. If I'm in a position where I don't want to bring the GH3, I obviously want something smaller. The EM-5 without the grip is already very small, but lacks the GX7's video quality.
The third reason is the silent electronic shutter. It's a feature I find incredibly useful in the GH3, and I wish the EM-5 had this, too.

The latest GH3 firmware v1.2 adds the GX7's Silent Mode to the custom menu.

the GX7's tilting viewfinder seemed like a gimmick, but after trying it in the store and buying the camera, i have found that it is definitely superb addition and almost mandatory for any future camera purchase. it allows me to take people pictures from a better perspective rather than a more looking down type of angle. and it also contributes to better handholding. in fact i have never been able to hold a camera so steady!
-the tilting viewfinder makes it easier to get a steady hold against the body
-the electronic shutter eliminates shutter shock issues
-the never mentioned half press shutter release which makes it super easy to feather the shutter.
i'm consistently able to get sharper shots with the GX7+12-35 combo vs the 6D+35IS
my only real complaint about the camera is that the number of options and settings is a bit overwhelming. the menus are easy to use and the touch screen definitely helps but the sheer number of choices is quite daunting at first. i would also prefer if they had more customizations as to what was shown in the LCD and VF display (similar to the X series which is very flexible).

My main use for the LCD is as the quick config option next which is the last one before u disable the LCD as u flip thru the options. Once I setup my default setup and configured my configs to the unusual stuff that I might use, I rarely go back to the main config menu.. Everything is from the quick config. Compared to the Olympus config options, I find the Panasonic fairly easy, IMHO.
I have set the wifi fn button to function as the silent vs normal function button. I change to normal for moving objects, otherwise it is the electronic by default.
My three lens kit for the gx7 is
- 12-32 zoom
- 20f1.7
- Sigma 60f2.8
The zoom is on the camera over 50% of the time.
The LCD for viewing when I need a low perspective.. The evf tilt only occasionally for me.

with 2+3 custom settings plus a dial position for manual video and practically all Fn buttons customizable, a touch side bar for more buttons and the quick menu, there really should not be a need to dig too far into the menus (which are easy to navigate like a phone anyways).
this by far now is my favourite camera for casual use. the sensor is pretty decent but it's not even close to FF quality in my books. but i usually like more depth of field and with the smaller sensor i can still use a larger aperture and lower iso settings so it all balances out. i can get reliably get shots at 1/10 easily with this setup.
my other unsual issue is that with the 12-35 mounted, it self-shadows when the pop-up flash is used.

Yep.. I am starting to like this better than my xe1.. My main cameras are still the Merrill's though.
In certain situations like small rooms, have u tried bounce flash. The gx7 guide number is a bit weak, but this can help out a bit. I am not a big flash user, prefer available light myself.
