I am trying to '' download '' money held for me by my sister to buy a Panasonic L 1 body from Pascal in the USA.
Yesterday I went into my friendly Leica store to play with the Digilux version , not so much to make certain that , unlike my Pentax K 10D , it is ASdee friendly [ Len at R.G.Lewis understands the blindness/ lostness / dee'sruption of autistic stuff and is endlessly patient with me ] but just to check if I really really want a Leica version in chrome ...
In fact , unlke my M 8 , or the Panasonic , it's not dee's crete and looks a bit flash !
But it looks so '' family ' against a chrome M 8 .
No matter where I try , I can't find an L1 in UK for less than £750 - twice what they are selling for in the States .
I am OK asking someone to import a $ 400 body for me , but a camera from a dealer is another issue .
Len has a mint boxed Digilux 3 , sold by him , little used as the guy also bought an M 8 and several lenses ... £ 899 . 00 ... I can't resist - even when buying the M 8 , an M styled Leica DSLR was an all too expensive dream - and then , I had no idea about resceuing my Rokkors !
I have asked him to hold it for me ... I , literally can't '' see '' connect to , ANY modern DSLR - I can use it , but it feels distant / confused - whereas my M 8 , and the L 1/ Digilux feel '' real ''
I genuinely believe that my M 8 and the twins - one with the zooooom , and the other permanently altered to take my 10x Rokkor lenses , will provide all the dee'gital dee'light I will ever need .
And my K 10 ? it's not the only camera which I possess which I can't connect to , and I have the fun of collecting cheap Pentax fit lenses to play with ... and it's a lot more acceptable with a non-zoom lense fitted !
... this will wipe out my secret savings , but with an M 8 and L 1 to use my Rokkors [ and future Minolta fit lenses ? ] I guess I shan't be complaining .. maybe I should have bought a couple of Voightlanders for the M 8 !!!
