Panasonic LF1 review

thanks, useful review. I thought abot this camera, but now I think I'll be getting LX100. I know it's not really pocketable, but I just can't resist.

Thanks. Ohh yes the LX100 is tempting indeed, and a much better camera than the LF1, but the LF1 is good for one thing: All the shots that would otherwise not be made 🙂

Lens will not extend, black box comes up, says turn camera off.

Think I got sand in lens mechanism.

loved IQ, but no zoom range and for my use case, just that much too big

I need reading glasses for anything close, so a VF on a camera is a must for me. That's why I was very interested in the LF1 when I first heard about it, what with the LF1 being such a tiny camera with an EVF thrown in at a hard to beat price point. Obviously you can't expect something like the one on a NEX-6, but even so, it was surprising how small the EVF view proved to be; useful as a back-up in case you can't see the LCD in full sunlight, but as a main viewing device it's not comfortable enough for me. I'll wait for a future version that ups the magnification a bit.. In all other aspects, the LF1 is something impressive though..

I rather quickly got used to the EVF (I too need reading glasses to use a screen efficiently), but I have never been very good at comparing the sizes of VFs. I happily use the VF of my old KIEV and find it to be just fine, but if I compare it to my Canon P, I can see that the KIEV VF stinks. I am sure that if I compared the EVF of my XE-1 to the LF1, I would hate the LF1 - so I don't do that 🙄

Just updated the ISO 800 shot - someone remarked that the subject in itself was fuzzy, and so it was, my bad.
