From what I’ve seen and read the Panasonic is not as good as
the SL. w Leica lenses. It also does not offer any M lens profiles.

I played w it in the store and was left nonplussed. I have no
idea why it is so expensive. My Z7 is already over priced (and works better w M glass
as the sensor stack is thinner.). I also couldnt tell much if any difference with the EVF. I think
we are now at the point of diminishing returns.
I did like the extra buttons but not the size of the thing. I’m not a fanboi of my Z7 by any means - there is plenty wrong w it - but if u want M glass use a Leica M240. Now really nice used one is less than the Panasonic.

I have used three Leica TL lenses on the Panasonic S1R. The lenses include the 23mm,f/2; the 11-23mm zoom, and the 55-135mm zoom. The S1R's body stabilization helps the image quality tremendously over the Leica T or TL2. The images are cropped to 20 Mp but they look great. In addition, the TL lenses are much smaller that full-frame L-mount glass from Panasonic, Leica, or Sigma.
I hope others give TL lens - S1R combination a try.

I can understand the appeal of smaller and lighter lenses on that system. But buying a 47mpixel camera and then only use 20 of them? That doesn‘t make any sense to me. If I want small and light lenses, I use a Leica-M lens adapted with 50mm or longer to get good quality in a light package. - Although I prefer to use a rangefinder in that case. Focus peaking is pretty good with the S1R, so its possible.

Yeah I don’t get that. Why not just use them on the crop sensor camera they are meant for?
It’s like me using the DX 16-50 lens on my Z7.

It's all about the image quality. And these 20 Mp images look great.
The TL lenses are small and sharp. It helps that I bought my S1R refurbished from B&h Photo at half the retain price. That is $1,000 less than the Leica CL.
