Panasonic LX100 with EVF, shutter speed dial, aperture ring, etc.

I loved the LX3. Made beautiful pictures.
This LX100 (they jumped a lot of numbers, huh!) looks extremely nice (the specs). I see the lens still says "Leica".
It's slightly smaller than the Fuji X100 (ah so that explains the name).
I think for a very nice personal camera, this could give the Fuji X100 a some real competition. Time will tell.

Seems knobs are next big thing like megapixels and hi-ISO used to be. To me, digital camera is OK with buttons as long as they don't get accidentally pressed.
Say, would GRD be more user camera had it filmcam like controls? As to me, those who dig it do it already without knobs.

looks like a nice street shooter and travel camera. The 4k video and shallow dof might interest videographers - but does it have a headphone port? The dpreview specs say no, but their first impressions report mentions one directly beneath the external microphone port.

It looks really nice - traditional controls and EVF ; but just hate the telescoping lens : wish it had a fixed 20/1.8 or m43 mount.

This is what the Fuji X30 should have been!

Oh man! This looks like it's going to be my first 4/3 camera!

I had an LX3 and really liked it. This guys specs look fantastic to me. Wonder how it really feels in hand.
The lens cover thingy is kinda funky.... maybe it's fine.

Finally a true digilux 2 replacement. I'm going to wait until Leica announces theirs, then probably pre order it.

I've always been curious about the Panny-Leica "rebranding" connection.
What are the advantages of a Leica branded camera?
I've read in the past about different Jpeg's and possible processor algorithms in the Leica branded models.
Is there anything to that ?

I like it too, but I am on the straight and narrow! One brand for film, one for digital, with the occasional dalliance here and there. I am not falling off the wagon. I am not falling off the wagon. I am not falling off the wagon.

Fall on off dude. The ground is nice and soft :)
(At least try a GR... you won't regret it)

Yeah off topic... ;)

That's what I've heard - different software. I assume that means less aggressive noise reduction in jpgs (Leica seems to consistently value resolution over noise).

Other than that, I'm ashamed to admit that I want it purely for the Leica name. There, I've said it.

The newly announced gm5 maybe what u want instead then.. Just and the pany 20f1.7 to it. It looks to be pretty close to same size. Has evf and makes use of all 16 mp of seen so while the lx100 is using slightly over 12mp of it..

Lacks traditional controls though...
