Absolutely agreed. I have never seen a photo taken with onboard flash, unless you stretch "onboard" to include old flash guns that got it a good foot or more away from the lens, that was worth the time it took to take.

I'd agree, except on one camera: the Ricoh GX100 (and, I assume, the GX200). Step back, zoom-in and fire the flash - looks great!

Agreed- the DMC-L1 is terrific. I bought one a few months ago and the photos are terrific. I love the aperture dial on the lens and shutter speed dial. My today's standards the DMC-L1 is big and bulky and has a dark viewfinder. But it is still a terrific camera.

I have one too - which I bought as a digital rangefinder substitute. I agree with the above. Add to which it can be somewhat slow to autofocus in adverse light and as the viewfinder is dim these are also the conditions in which manual focus is difficult. I do like using it though. But had it got these things right would have been a classic - as its classic handling is superb. Oh there is one other shortcoming too - the 4/3 format allows the use of almost all other manufacturers lenses with adapters - but not Leica M. Blast!

Having said all of that none of the current micro 4/3 offerings come as close as this camera to what most of us are looking for.

Never wanted and never will want an onboard flash. What I would like with my E-P1 is support for AF-assist when an Oly flash is mounted. :bang:
