My wife had given me a gift card for Barnes & Noble last fall, but I finally found something they had I found interesting: Paris Changing: Revisiting Eugene Atget's Paris, by Christopher Rauschenberg.
It's interesting to see how the same scenes have changed since the same scenes were first photographed by Atget. Sometimes the buildings/landscapes look worse for wear. Sometimes they have been made to look even more beautiful that during Atget's time. And even more than one might expect, there are many scenes that have had little changes occur over this near 100 year time span.
I'm about to embark on a similar project of my own, which will be part of my contribution to The Kodachrome Project. This summer I'll be reshooting the same night time street scenes I took as a child (with Kodachrome) over 30 years ago of downtown Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

it's just hide and seek
Great project, I love "now&then" photos. The one with the windmill is incredible. I did not know that they still have it there, right in the middle of the metropole city.

Can't wait to see the project. I found an area that pops with color, right in the midst of poverty. I think I will make that a part of my project. & hopefully be able to get to know some really good people.

gb hill, it sounds like you're on to something good. I'm seeing this project in a similar way that you are, an opportunity to meet and befriend others.

marke, that is an very fine book. The photographer also happens to be the son of the painter Robert Rauschenberg.
