For some reason, that's the phrase that came to my mind ever since I got a hankering for an M3. Now... the kit is assembled. Here's a kind of "after" series of pics (I won't post the before 'cuz I think you already saw them when I announced my M3's arrival).

So, here it is, the "Paris in the Fifties" gear: newly covered Leica M3 DS, collapsible Summicron, mid-sixties MR meter (but who's counting?) and "never ready" leather case (very classy, though).

Of cors, I wil sey zat, je suis jealous ;) ::sigh:: Hope to take my Leica gear over to Paris; I took my 10D, but c'est ne pas la même chose! So, when do we get to see the new pics?

For the time being I won't get closer to Paris than the Ardennes. I'm not sure a Japanesque Gold M2 is quite what comes to mind when I think of the Ardennes.... :)
 
Nice, I see the charm of "old setups" shame about the 60-ties meter, I bet there will be ways to exchange for a similar period meter ..

Agree, it's fun that it all started with the 60's meter :) Fun also when I remember what you said when you first got the M3, curious how mind works eh Francisco ? ;)
 
The never-ready case is exactly that. Useful only for the original Leicas that had no strap hooks.

Also, didn't the late Henri Cartier=Bresson have a "Paris in the 30's" Leica?
 
Great set!! meter doesn't look out of place, To me atleast!
You could get over to Paris Texas for a quick trip!!

I went out this afternoon... with this camera. Heck, sixties meter or not, it works like a charm!

Thanks for the comments! And it's scary how some people remember things... Yep, the meter was an impulse buy, and after I got it fixed, the need for its companion became obsessive. And yes, Oscar, I had planned on selling it, but even my wife liked the camera.

Who am I now to disappoint her? :(

BTW, so far, nobody has made comments on the camera or lens. Let's see tomorrow... I'm hopefully getting up early and hitting a swap-and-meet! :)
 
Really a nice rig, Francisco! Looks great, and your shots of it are excellent too.
