Paris, Troyes, Nancy, Metz, Reims, Lilles, Calais, Dieppe, Rouen, Caen

Omaha Beach near Colville/ Caen is a must if you want to visit WWII- places. Also interesting surroundings, lots of things to see, places to visit and pictures to take.

The plan is to pack the M7 and the X-pro1 along with the adapter and lenses. As much as I want to take the rollei, I think it's going to remain at home.

I live in southern France (way southern than where you intend to go, but my whole grand-mother's family was from Nancy, and there are no areas of France where I didn't go), and I visited Toronto thrice ; my best (IMO) pics of your own city were shot last year when I decided to travel with my Rolleiflex only ;)

Dieppe is nice enough, but can be a bit depressing since the ferries traffic decreased a lot ; thus I recommend you to go and see Fécamp, Honfleur, and Etretat as well.

Near Dieppe you can't skip Miromesnil and Varangeville, both closely connected to Guy de Maupassant's universe.

Reims is a sad and boring city. There is the cathedral of course.

Lille is a very dynamic one, with some very old sectors where houses will remind you Québec City a lot (go and look at the rue des Vieux-Murs for instance).

In Troyes, there is a very nice Tools Museum.

Have a nice trip ! ;)

Bon voyage and also bon appétit ;)

I'm afraid that the weather this year has been very disappointing, but it may turn nice by the time you get here. But cloudy skies may make dramatic photos!

Have a safe trip, looking forward to seeing your photos.

Sounds like a really great trip. I went to the Normandy beaches in 2005 (mainly for some charity work time at La Cambe cemetary), but wasn't into photography as I am now.

Don't miss the churches of Caen and Bayeux (there also maybe the tapestry, but the thing presented is a copy and not that much worth to stand in line waiting for 1 hour or so). Mont-St.-Michel is also a classic of the region and there's a German war cemetary not far away from there.
Caen should be good for some street photography, too.

In Paris, make sure to check some photo exhibits, there are some excellent places there.
Fondation Cartier-Bresson, Maison Europeenne de la photo are a couple that come to mind
