pass around scanner test : 1 neg, many scanners

Received the good stuff today, along with the Imacon 646. Will be running the negs through on Monday.

it would be good if you would take a crop of the 120 B&W just like I did. See how it trounces my Multi Pro. Or how it doesn't. I suspect that it will.

My experience is that the multi pro holds its own in resolution, but is trounced in speed, color accuracy out of the scanner and software. Otherwise it is not far behind (and having ICE is an edge).

Righty, received the negs from Francesco today and scanned them (Nikon V ED), 35mm only I'm afraid.

Just need to do some cropping and uploading to my webspace and I'll post the results.

Well, I'm back from being away on holidays (see my post #17 this thread) and it looks like the party started without me! Good work people! If you still need a Coolscan V and Epson 4490 scans let me know what I need to do to contribute.

That Plustek Optcfilm 7200 looks interesting, especially for the price. Shame they don't support Mac OS X. 🙁 Will have to send them an inquiry to ask why.
If anybody is interested, this is the response I got back from Taiwan:

"We planed it [Mac OS X support] before but it did request too much time and software staff, so we won't do it recently. Maybe will do it in the future."

So if Mac users are interested in this scanner, perhaps if enough folks go to their web site and request it, they'll see the benefit of putting in the resources to make it happen....

I don't see any point in really doing anything with your scans, Kully. The link is effective.

I will be taking everyone's stuff and putting it all together on my website with side by side comparisons, etc

Send me information for getting the full size scans from you (not FULL size, but larger than what you posted on your site).

I am putting up the scans to my website tonight. What we have so far. I will renew the selection as scans come in - I just want to get some of this finished because it will take some time to do it properly.

George,

Please note.

Its a Howtek 4500. There was more than one 4000 dpi howtek.

Also the minolta is actually a 5400II the third iteration of the 5400.
