Paul Fusco Dies

Once in the Magnum Print Room in London, they had an exhibition of his prints from the RFK funeral train. It was one of the most moving things I have ever seen, and left me feeling quite sad at what his loss--along with MLK's death--had cost our country.

This is a big loss. He (and Will McBride; both featured in a photo book in the Masters of Photography series c.early 1970s) were some of the photographers who got me fascinated (and inspired) with photography when I was starting out with a camera. Fantastic work.

Back in the pre-computer days, I found Paul Fusco's images inspiring.

I'll put something up on Camera Work about Paul in a while.

Please contribute any of Paul's work or stories/info about Paul to the CW thread.

Thanks, PKR

(****.) I met him about 15 years ago at a presentation he did here. I brought along a copy of his Chernobyl book for him to sign after the Q&A, and his face lit up when I pulled it out of my bag, like it was a long-lost child. A real gentleman, who never worked the easy stories.
