PayPal spoof

I got a "possible fraud alert" from what appeared to be PayPal. The message said that my account had been used from "other locations" & that if I didn't respond within 48 hours my account would be cancelled. I was supposed to click on the link & probably give my account info. I forwarded the email to PayPal security instead. Sure enough, it was a Phishing expedition. Be wary.
 
I endorse that. The thieves send them regularly, but banks and PayPal never advise you that way. You can always log on to your account and see if anything has been happening to it.
 
This one has been going for some time.

I get at least two of these a week. Usually, it's confirming I've added someone elses e-mail to my account. Like anyone who is smarter than a plant would actually believe their garbage and actaully click on the link...

Although I've been tempted to click on the link and enter obscenities as my Id., or claim to be user "Nice Try" with a password of "loser". I resists this because it will most like increase the number of these messages from whatever idiots are sending them.
 
If you reply to any of them, you are confirming that your address is active and that address will be sold on to the spammers. Sounds like fun but only if you don't mind junk mail.

Keep in mind though that Paypal does limit accounts for security purposes. This happened to me recently, perhaps because I used my account from a different city than usual. The email did not have a link and said I needed to log in from the regular website. I did, answered some questions, changed my password, and was good to go. No weirdness since then. The key seems to be no links and no scare-tactics, i.e. cancelling the account or giving a sense of urgency--those are the signs of a scam. --sooner

I've used my account from several different cities and computers and never been limited by paypal.
