I have an old Visitor 285 zoom flash in great condition but the PC sync cord is not compatible with the M3 port. Any recommendations? I saw in another thread a small Sunpak attached to an M3, so I guess it's possible.
The problem with PC plugs is that they are not locking and can fall off the camera. Leica M cameras have a spring that engages the custom tip for a more secure connection.
I have an M3, an M2, and two screwmount Leica IIIf bodies. The IIIf has a standard PC flash socket, while the M3 and M2, both later models than the IIIf, have that proprietary socket. The M4 went back to the standard PC socket, which has remained on all later model to the present day.
I always found it odd that they went from a standard flash socket to a proprietary one then back to standard.
