Just beginning to explore this idea of a PDA. The 2 most common/popular so far, based on a bit of internet searching, are the Palm TX and the Apple iTouch. I would use it to store photos, music, and most importantly, for mobile web browsing. It would come in handy while travelling and keeping in touch by eMail. Any thoughts on these or other options? How about pocketbook computers?

I use a nokia n800 and I love it. They are cheap and have an 800x480 screen.

I carried a Palm TX on my world trip and loved it (I used it so much the screen was worn out after 6 months). The Wifi could be a bit weak some times but it did the job.
But now I think I would get an iPod Touch. The interface in my mind is a joy to to use and so easy to set up.
I hear good things about this mini laptop as well.

Don't mention it Frank.
The Massive Development Chart is available for Palm OS.

The iPod Touch is a fantastic option as well if what you want is available for it- most of the stuff for the iPod requires a wifi connection, whereas for Palm a lot of things are stored in onboard memory.

I keep a lot of my photos on my iphone, which is the itouch except it's also a cell phone. And everyone loves it. I think the best part is flipping through it with the swipe of a finger. And the screen is crisp and vibrant.

I just got a Palm Centro and it's everything I need and more. Instant email access, web, TV (extra $), radio, MP3's, etc. The iPhone/iTouch has a better interface so it may be a better choice if web browsing is your main concern.

If someone would buy my Minolta XK for $150, I could buy a used TX.
