One color and one B+W using a CLE rokkor f2/40mm almost exactly one year ago.

first shot is very cute as is the model
looks like a fashion shot, light hearted

the second shot does little for me
i wonder why you took/posted it
not trying to be negative, it just seems to lack meaning

my favourite of the images you posted.
love the moodiness of it and the feeling from the foggy atmosphere

i like the very first image as well, very colourful, like the expression on the young girls face and that she is looking at you.

the shot has been done before...

but i really like this one, the mustache is a hoot and is so easy to spot.
i'm a sucker for a silhouette.

Dinner in the Philippines: I love the composition even though I'd clean-up the crop a little (top right hand side and bottom of the picture). I know that the R-D1's white balance/color palette has a tendency to go wild in low light / high iso conditions and so I'd try to do something about the yellow/orange cast. I looked at your flickr stream -which is great, and I see it shows a little bit more natural there. cheers, p

@Peter Thanks. I white balanced off of his collar and parts of her dress and then I went back to straight out of the camera and changed it just slightly. Sometimes I just like the warm colors that night shots can produce. I agree the R-D1s white balance does go a bit wild sometimes to the point that correction just brings out a lot of noise.

Intriguing composition but it doesn't sparkle: the woman gets lost. I'd bring her more into focus by cropping on the right hand side/bottom. Purists may argue that hcb never did...but then again, he never printed any of his pictures... The white balance is going wild with the street showing blue which is easy to adjust in any editing program. I'd also think this photo would show really well in black and white. cheers, p

R-D1 is excellent for push-processing and this is one of many things what I like in R-D1.
Do you want to use ISO12800? Why not? Color or B/W, both are very good (for me of course).

True. I have the feeling, that everyone wants to post and likes to get comments, but does not want to comment other peoples posts...

Maybe, we need a rule like: You have to give at least useful comments to two other post, before you can post. - I know, this wouldn't work, but it's a pity here.

To yours: I'm feeling, it's a little bit too close. I would have moves a few steps back for a little bit more context. It might be an interesting scene, but it is very isolated.

The tones look very good, though. Was it directly from the camera or post-processing?

hi krotenbleder, thanks for your comments: not much enthusiasm for 'critiquing'. This said, I fully agree with your 'framing' comment...it could have been better...perhaps I was too much enchanted by the chickens. Not straight out of the camera but with some minor adjustments, not in PS but in ACDSee Pro which suits me fine.

peter, the chicken and the woman photo is off putting in a way. the image was too big to view at one glance on my monitor so i started at the top and really liked the woman but then i hit the checkens and it turned cold for me. the white of her hat and of the chickens tied her directly to the dead birds. it stopped me in my tracks...but then maybe that is what you wanted and it worked!?

the seagull shot is full of life and warmth...i like it.

I agree...the photo is off putting... then again, I posted it to exemplify the 'silence' on this thread and to invite reactions.

I posted the seagull since it shows inherent camera flaw (or is it my problem?)...the sun bounced off the sensor and replicated itself in the pic. I like the streaking effect. A cold Spring afternoon on Lake Ontario.
