After several years of using this D3, time came to test it with black and white. It takes time to finish a roll of 74 half frames.

Thanks! I did not use the meter, forgot to put a battery and noticed too late. Guessed at exposures.

In the D3 you must open the back to install a battery.
 
Open the back to change the battery? In amongst the beauties of Olympus design, there are some really daft ideas.

Yes, Mr. Maitani had a distraction there. The D model was designed for selenium cell. I guess that when they switched to a CdS cell (D2 and D3) there simply was no place for the battery elsewhere.
