Pen F body & Zuiko lens CLA in the Greater Toronto Area

Hi all.

I have the bog-standard 38mm Pen F lens in desperate need of overhauling. At a PHSC show last year, I was referred to someone living in Oakville with many years of Olympus/Zuiko experience. I've since lost the business card his name and number were written on. Oops.

After a few searches on rff.com and elsewhere it's (mostly) obvious that the name was Dave Eve, although I can't seem to find an up-to-date email address. For the sake of future generations and searches, I will list the two addresses associated with him on rff.com that are no longer valid:

Does anyone have more recent contact information for Dave? It was his number that I was given, and I do remember calling last year and hearing something along the lines of, "Just drop by anytime with the lens!", but without knowing who it was I was speaking to I'm hesitant to drop by the home address I've also found for Dave Eve on this site.

Any ideas, folks? My more general question is: do you know of anyone in the GTA who'd be happy to do minor repairs on a Zuiko lens or two?

I would recommend John Hermanson of Camtech, even though he is in New York. Not exactly in the greater Toronto area, but not that far either. He works only on Olympus/Zuiko equipment, accepts international repairs regularly, and does a high quality job.

May be worth a phone call. I hear they do Olympus and Rollei in house.
Went it comes time I will probably send mine to John Hermanson based on his reputation with Olympus.

I'm aware of John's well-earned reputation, and I've spoken with him here and by email about another camera, but I was hoping to find a solution that didn't involve international post. I'm dead centre in a hate-hate relationship with USPS right now—it appears they lost my Kodachrome shipment from Dwayne's, goddamnit—and I'm not trusting anything that I can't deliver by hand.

And yeah, I've already figured out how I'd get to John H's place by car if I end up having a few free hours on my NYC trip in May.

Noted! I was mostly being facetious, but if it turns out I can't find anyone up here in TO I might arrange with you to deliver a lens or two and pick them up in person. I'd let you know well in advance, though.

I've used Camtech in Hamilton on my OM cameras and Mamiya 6 and was happy with what they did.
I've also used Sun Camera in Vaughan to do work on my Pen FT and my 38mm lens - they did a good job - also closer to home.

I go to the Hammer all the time, and patronizing an old camera shop up on the Mountain is sort of an ideal for me. I'm sending Camtech a message now!

I have my lens back already from Camtech. I paid slightly less than I expected to, everyone was friendly and helpful, and the work was to a very high standard indeed. I can't recommend Camtech enough for GTA lens and body repairs. Thanks, guys!
