I took my FT off the shelf (where it's been languishing for too long) with the eye of running a roll of film through it. I thought I'd do a few test shots to make sure the shutter was still running accurately after almost a year, and made the boneheaded mistake of cupping my palm over the mount to prevent any dust from entering the film chamber. The mirror hit my palm, and now the mirror is stuck up (well, to the side) and the camera is otherwise jammed; can't advance the film, so can't get the mirror back down, etc. I'm fairly handy and have the right tools for opening a camera, does anyone know what I could do to reset the mechanism?

I have a similar problem.
Can anybody help?

this helped with a stucked mirror with my ft before, but YMMV; moving the shutter dial to B sometimes helps, but this is with the gearing and speed issues. if the mirror and affected parts have been physically damaged i see no other way unless you either open it yourself or send it off to john hermanson: www.zuiko.com. he is the pen f and om expert in the states.
