Overall, how do you like it?

I'm tempted by this camera but I'm a little unsure about the ergonomics. I've read that the ergonomics of these cameras are pretty good and that many people can use them just like their 35mm SLR's. However, I'm not sure if people are referring to just the N line because the ergonomics seem to have improved with the updated line (dials instead of buttons).

I've used the P645N and love it. It has all the features and handling you would expect in a late-model SLR camera, without any of the crap and menus of DSLRs. In my opinion, there is a huge improvement from the P645 to P645N, aside from the auto-focus. Specifically, each knob has one function, without relying on menus.

I have had the 645, then bought the 645N, soon bought another 645N and eventually sold the 645.
The 645 feels very solid, may actually be a bit more solid than the 645N, but the latter is just that more easy to use because of superb ergonomics. The 645 is not bad, but I did not like the buttons that much when used in manual mode. In automatic there is not really much between them (apart from autofocus in the N). The feel of the 645N in your hand is slightly different and better, heck it's no surprise to find the digital model 645D based on the 645N, but not enough to warrant the price difference on its own. If you want manual control, the 645N is worth the difference IMO because of an easier operation. It is also nice to get a sort of EXIF printed on your film if you have any FA lenses with the 645N. I did not expect to look at these details as much as I do.

I like it
you get used to the menu but honestly do think if the n is in your budget it would be nicer just becauese of the knobs.

My 645N gets out of my way and simply lets me make images. No menus to remember. You can figure it out without reading the manual. Get the N. On the other hand, The 645NII is not worth the extra money IMHO.
