Pentax Auto 110 lenses on M43 cameras

Hi everybody,

I want to start that thread because I just bought a Pentax 110 lenses set for my GH1, and I feel I will have a lot of fun with it :

They're incredibly small, light and compact. there's a 70mm too but I don't have it yet.

Then, I bought the m4/3 to 110 adaptor made by Hawk's Factory, and it's great : extremely well done, and really special look.
It's more expensive than the "no brand" chinese adators you cand find on the bay, but many users I ask told me they have issues with those adaptors.
Currently I have no time to make a lot of pictures with my new combo, but the adaptor works fine, it's precise and really solid.
The first pictures I've made enthousiam me.

What about you guys?
Please tell us about your experience with 110 lenses and adaptors please, and, most of all, please share camera porn and pictures made with it!

Wow, really nice. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your shots with these lenses. I'd be interested to see an image with the 18mm focused at longer distance wide openish? I presume that the edges won't be sharp, but in a smooth way i hope.

Yes edges are soft - about the stops :
All that lenses ALWAYS STAY @ f2.8, because in the Auto 110 system you change the stops ON the camera.

Well not really time to shoot, but more details about the lenses.

1) I like the 18mm very much. It's the most versatile of the three. Pretty sharp in the center, with soft edges, but not too much.
With that lens bokeh is incredible!

2) the 24mm is sharp even in the corners, but the eq. 50mm isn't very useful for me (I prefer wides). Bokeh is more "standard" than with 18mm.

3) IMO the 50mm is the less interesting. Not such particular "style" than the other ones. Colors seem to be more fade too.
I must confess I'm not really eficient with long lenses like that eq. 100mm… maybe it influences my feeling.

NB : With the three lenses, the fixed aperture (f2.8) isn't an issue with strong day light, only if you have 1/4000s. speed on your camera and if you shoot in raw.

In conclusion, I'm really happy to have bought them, for the quality and specific rendering it's a bargain!
I hope I should try them soon with a "real" project - also I must try in BW and/or low light situations.

I bought the RJ adapter in May last year, after I tried it few day, I decide to make one adapter by myself. I took one broken pentax 110 camera body and did some modify, it can be focus to infinity and adjust the aperture, that allows me to have more depth of field and when I in strong sunlight, but I need to pre-set that.

Congratulations, it's a great job!
I have not had the courage to try it myself (and I had to buy a 110 camera).
Your system is very impressive, and the possibility to pre-set the aperture may be really useful : for my pictures of the funfair I need slow speed for motion effects, and I couldn't with the fixed f2.8 aperture and sun light…
By the way I'm really happy with the Hawk adaptor, it's precise and solid - and it gives to the GH1 a very strange look.
I will post pictures of it soon with the lenses on.

Some excellent shots! Glad to see these little gems put to good use, but it seems to me the adapters should have apertures, even if simple Waterhouse stops.

Especially the 18mm from Pentax is great: Really sharp in the center, and wonderful softness in the corners. I recommend to use it in 2/3-format.
