What filter does a Pentax Digital Spotmeter take?

If I attach a UV filter to the spotmeter, will it affect the readings?

The reason I am asking is because I an considering using it with on a Y strap http://figitalrevolution.com/y-strap/ as it would make metering faster, rather than have to take the meter out of a holster or pocket, grab it and put it back with the risk of dropping it.

The spotmeter's cap would invariably get lost and/or slow me down but I would still like some protection with the filter as the spotmeter would be at my side.

The non-metered Leica M2 or M3 would already be on my neck so I could adjust the manual settings quickly to get pictures of my kids at play and the spotmeter would be dangling at my side safely.

Filter size is 40.5mm which was quite common. Should be easy to find. I use a UV filter on mine for the same reason.

I have noticed no inaccuracy with the filter, but who knows exactly? Maybe in very high UV situation, such as up a very high mountain, there could be some minor effect, but you would have a filter on the camera too, so my guess is that any inaccuracy would be lost in the other variables.

The filter is a good idea. I just tested my meter with a Hoya UV(0) and found no difference in meter readings. However with the filter in place the standard lens cap won't stay put.

Not sure about the Y-strap. If I'm using the spot meter I'll be working off a tripod, with all sorts of extras like grad filters etc, so I wear a vest and just drop the meter into a pocket. I wonder which would look sillier - the photog's vest or a meter on a strap? 🙂

I know Raid uses a spot meter - I wonder how he carries his?
