Hello,
At a recent camera market I saw what I deemed to be a repairable SMC Pentax 50 1.4. To say the previous owner threw it in a river would be a total understatement. Before cleaning, there was sand between each element, and fungus everywhere. Since, I have completely disassembled the lens and cleaned everything, being careful to not damage the coatings which have no scratches whatsoever. I do not have images of the cleaning but one task remains. The doublet has some issue, which I assume is a separation of the balsam. Should I try to re-cement the lens, or should I try find a donor lens and change out the whole doublet?
Please let me know, and I will attach photos of the doublet.
