Pentax Q System

If I'm honest, this has to be one of the ugliest camera's I've ever seen. It almost looks like it's made of lego pieces or something.
It does look interesting, but with a tiny tiny sensor, 'toy' lenses and a price tag above current m4/3 cameras what's more interesting to me is wtf they were thinking when they designed this thing... If (with the 50mm lens) it was priced under $500 it would be a much more interesting little camera.

One things for sure though - it's absolutely tiny!

High price tag, small sensor, remind why anyone would buy this over something like a Oly Pen? Really Pentax, another lens system?

Just saw this and was interested (for a friend) but the small sensor size turns me off. Some will no doubt like the small camera body size. The key for me will be how easy it is to use the manual functions (e.g. exposure and focusing).

Perhaps they are going after the market of people that use iphones with the different apps. That would make the toy lenses make more sense.

Seems to have very clean ISO 6400 files for its size though... and I would hope that $800 is suggested price. I'd be interested in one for $500-600 with the prime.

That includes two lenses.

Everywhere I've read stated that it only includes the prime and that the toy lenses will be $79 each and the zoom $300. Not sure about the fisheye.

I could never see buying into this as your only camera, but it is an intriguing second or third option. I'm a sucker for small cameras. A tiny camera with a fast 50, leaf shutter, and what looks to be good high ISO performance? Priced right, this will do well with certain people. For me to be into it, it would have to AF fast and feel right in the hand.

Still kind of a weird choice to use a sensor smaller than the Olympus XZ-1.

I think it's quite pretty, it's very "different" and of course, it's tiny. I applaud Pentax for not just making another "me too" camera.

Where have you seen full size iso 6400 samples?

I haven't... just small sizes: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/PENTAXQ/PENTAXQINBI6400.HTM

However, it looks to have good high ISO. Pentax didn't include an antialiasing filter either.

This is smaller than I thought too:

My guess is by making the sensor small they can keep the lenses small and proportionate to the camera body. I've often thought that some of the lenses for the mFT or Sony compact cameras dwarf the camera itself to the point of looking ridiculous.

It's the Auto110 for the new generation. If you can slip this camera and a few lenses into a coat pocket, you're away.

Give it a few months, and the price will drop below the announced price, which will make it look a nicer proposition.

That is small. And a 40.5mm filter size? Good grief! I don't think it would fit my pocketbook at value for performance. It is kind of cute and camp though.
