I just acquired four screw-mount Pentax bodies, three Spot-matics, and one SV.

The SV has a film advance that has jammed - it seems like the lever needs to travel another 10-20 degrees to complete its stroke.

Browsing eBay, I found a couple other SVs with jammed advances...

Was this a common issue with the S-cameras, and if so, is it a DYI fix or best left to a technician ?

Thanks,

Finally digging into the beast a little bit.

The film advance lever has wound about 140-160 deg through it's 200-some deg stroke, then the advance jammed-up.

The shutter curtains appear to have nearly wound through to the take-up side of the film gate, leaving the leading edge of the left-hand curtain visible inside the the RH edge of the gate.

The curtains are crackly and shedding rubber.

I can neither wind further, nor can I release the shutter...

Any thoughts ?

My thought is that maybe the shedding rubber is getting stuck somewhere in the works. I'd send it out, if you want to use the camera - they are really nice when they work as they should. 🙂
