Pentax Screw Mount - Need Help

Update on this thread......The 85 is an MC not an SMC...... I did in fact buy a Spotmatic SPII from KEH..... for like $84.00 plus shipping.....got it last week, what a nice camera!!!!! My Nikkormats are jealous :).

New question, one of the lenses was a really sweet Chinon 50mm 1.4 which was probebly the lens that came with the kit. I haven't used it yet, does anyone have experience with this lens?

Also, who sells the generic seal kits?

Thanks again all very helpful as always!!

Not much to add; these lenses are IMHO, the best value for the dollar in glass available today. The lenses are readily adaptable to Canon's EOS mount and the the A-M selector switch (which I always used for depth-of-field preview) is well-suited to the stop-down metering requirements of the Canon DSLRs (for non-Canon lenses). The lenses themselves have a solid, all-metal construction that would cost hundreds of dollars to produce with today's manufacturing processes -- yet the lenses (with some exceptions are selling for tens, not hundreds, of dollars. Two exceptions are the 85/2 and the 35/2, which are prized by shooters and collectors alike. I have an 85/1.9 which is battered but serviceable. And because they are sooooo inexpensive I have also picked up a 24/3.5, 35/2, 55/2, 50/1.4, 105/2.8 and 200/4. My advice would be just to use your newfound glass for a while and get a feel for what it does -- don't worry about brand loyalty and whether something says Pentax or Chinon on the beauty ring.

Your Spotmatic is the precursor to my very first SLR, the Pentax K1000. Good luck with it.

I recently purchased a SPII and 50/4 smc macro tak on the cheap. I also am really enjoying the spotmatic ii. And the takumar lenses are great. :D
