I recently picked up a Pentax Spotmatic II camera with a couple of lenses in a swap meet. I've been hearing how good the Pentax Takumar lenses are and would like to try it for myself. I like the screw mount lenses also because they are compact compared to my other SLR lenses and they are very reasonable.
I primarly like to use rangefinder cameras when I go out because they are very compact but sometimes I miss having a little longer telephoto lens. The Spotmatic body is nice but still a little bulky for me. I'm thinking getting a Pentax MX and use my screwmount lenses on it.
I also found some sellers on Ebay offering screwmount to k-mount adapters. Has anyone tried this combination? Would metering still work? Any problems I should be aware of?
Thanks.

Metering works, but it is set using the aperture. And I have a genuine Pentax adapter, I would get that one if possible. The knock offs which I also have are not really worth it.
I've used my adapter of P3n, *istDL, K10d, and S1n or some number like that, all have some metering functionality.

Definitely buy the real thing from the Pentax webstore...here's the link, it's kind of hard to find on the site: http://www.pentaxwebstore.com/detail/PTX+30120
This adapter works great.

Shooter of Film...
Watch the auction site too...But like the others have said look for an original Pentax adapter...the real ones are pricey but worth it...
You meter and shoot in the Manual mode setting on the lens unless you want to meter and shoot wide open...
There is a metal tab on the adapter that will lock it in the camera body so you would have to screw the lens out...I took this off of mine so it comes off with the lens...
I can use my M42 lenses on the MX and ME bodies I have but prefer to use the Spotmatic...
