I've just brought a Pentax Spotmatic SP, it was cheap, the reason being the shutter/winder is jammed.

I would like to attempt a repair myself - could anyone give me any tips of things I could try?

So far I've removed the bottom plate and reset the slide lever but sadly all it did was return the mirror to the up position, the shutter and winder remained stuck.

If anyone could help I'd be grateful.

Hey Brett, thanks so much for taking the time to help - it's much appreciated.
You're welcome, and I hope it helps. Don't forget that right here at RFF the old Classic Camera Repair Forum is archived (due to forum software issues it shut down a while ago). It is read-only, but there's a lot of helpful information about fixing all manner of cameras. Given the popularity of the Spotmatic series there should be some information about unjamming them in it, and, more than likely, something relevant to the problems with yours.

Apart from the first link, there are separate archives for several years from 2009 -2004 which will need to be checked separately. The functionality is not so great, however most web browsers support a search function for pages you load (Eg. "Control F" for Firefox). By Eg. entering "Spotmatic" as the search term, you can scroll down the pages reasonably quickly for any relevant discussions.
Cheers,
Brett

Cheers for this Brett, I'm working my way through the posts. I think I've tracked the problem down to it being a Jammed Film Transport.
