The camera is a K2000, their low-end DSLR...in WHITE!

Honestly, this is silliness, but it's nice to see Pentax displaying a few modest signs of life. I like this "be different" ad campaign, and I bet they sell quite a few of these cameras. Which will look awful within two weeks, for anyone who actually uses them.

It's certainly distinctive, alright. As a long-time fan, it's always good to see that Pentax is trying something new, but no way am I going to buy that one.

The white Canon lenses are the height of fashion, white Pentax bodies are "dumb" ????

I don't get it sometimes. I would not buy the Pentax because I don't use Pentax but a white D700 or D300 would be very tempting. Reason is purely practical. I do a lot of work in very hot sunny climates. Black camera in the sun gets HOT as hell!

It's funny, I actually like the white k2000 but I really really dislike canons white L telephotos. Such an ugly color scheme.

I hadn't thought of that, actually.

I think it's "dumb" in the way that all the endless Leica special editions are dumb...of no practical value other than as marketing schemes. But you have a point with the hot sunny weather.

I AM a Pentax person and when I heard a new camera was coming I suppose I hoped they'd unleash some interesting new technology...like their own competitor with Micro 4/3ds!

Yeah, bring back the Asahi brand! I must admit, the white K2000 reminded me of that one-off...at least they eventually brought out the 40mm pancake limited.

I have a white skinned M3. 😀
