Pentax's dumb new camera and videogame

This is the perfect camera for a housewife or a new mother. Women will love it.

In other words this camera is targeted at the same female group that Panasonic went after with G1.

Soccer mom's on the other hand will stick to their D80s and Rebel XTIs.

I actually think is not bad at all, unfortunately is the low-end K-M/2000 and not the K200 or K20 which I would buy If I had the cash

White is just cool.....

Cameras in different colors? Now what a great Idea, yes it is a marketing ploy to make the camera stand out on the shelf. It will more than likely work too. That person who buys it, may just become enamored in photography and buy a better model later in life too. I prefer my cameras to be black but, and this is a big but..... Digital camo would look sweet on my Canon bodies :)

The white Canon lenses are the height of fashion, white Pentax bodies are "dumb" ????

The problem with a white anything is that it's easy to get dirty and dirt and smudges and such will show up like a sore thumb!

Cool game, this is not the first time I wished there's a real 3D game that teaches beginners (or beginners at heart) the basics of photography using real lenses with real specs.

As for the camera... uh... what's that new lens again? :D

The game is cool, but I wish it was more a StarWars type game....
storm trooper goes photo hunting in Endor or so

Hmmm, not for me. I'm not overly keen on white things full stop. (Although my eMac looks OK in white) -- I own an EOS 3 and I'm not overly enamoured with L telephoto zooms being white either but that's just 'one of those things'

I can see the Leitz boys/girls now .... gathered at the boardroom table deliberating over whether to release the white M8.2 they had planned for April 1st.

Should 'The Empire Strike Back' maybe and release it a little earlier ... put some pressure on Pentax sales! :p

I actually like the white version :) Pretty cool... if they came out with a white version of the K20D, I'd sell my existing K20D for it! :)

note: Longtime Pentax fan here (ME Super, K100,K10,K20 and all the right lenses ;) )

can you use it after labour day?
:D:p well done and a good question!

when I first saw this over on DPReview, I thought it was hideous, but after several looks, I don't mind it so much, now. I think it was just the shock of seeing a white elephant, a odd/rare thing. I'm sure there's probably nothing really innovative about the camera, other than it's a white dslr, but I kind of like when a company tries to do something different on occasion. I have to wonder whether this would be any more or less conspicuous than a black dslr hanging around someone's neck.

I'll get a pink one for daughter! Which color would be cool for a boy?

seriously, I agree that white is better than silly silver.

they're all sold out in japan!

How cool are the Japanese consumers, really (seriously).

Interesting. I'd have to see it in person to decide if I like the white or not.

But I already prefer it to Canon's line of glittery silver Rebel SLRs. Those things are awful.
