I can't change the aperture without twisting the whole lens and consequently collapsing it or ending up with it loose but uncollapsed. It won't stay fixed in the extended position and allow the aperture to be set.

I've looked inside and nothing seems to be broken it just seems to be poorly made in this respect. I saw a youtube movie to fix this problem but taking a hammer and punch to the lens seems pretty risky to me. Not sure if it was tongue in cheek or not.

Is this a problem with all of these lenses? I can change it by putting pressure on the barrel with one hand while changing the aperture with the other but I'm not sure that should be necessary.

Others' experience appreciated.

thanks,

Mike

I may be stating the obvious, but it is a niche lens and does things other lenses can't do. So I'm willing to ignore the fact that sometimes the focus shifts when I change aperture (unless I put my finger on the focus tab). In comparison I have a 35mm Summicron that is totally useless at collapsing into the body no matter how much I try to make it, but changing the aperture doesn't affect the focus. Which is to say, there are upsides and downsides to most things.

I had this issue as well... it required me sending it back for a minor tweak. It came back quickly and without the issue. You should contact Dirk and let him know the problem
